About Our Organization

Nancy Epstein

Left to Right:

Sally Jasperson, Treasurer;

Gary Kendrick, Vice Chair; Nancy Epstein, Chair;

Nancy Downey, Secretary.

This last election cycle was historic in Nevada history. The state not only turned Blue in terms of voter registration, but thanks to efforts of DCDCC member Cindy Trigg, Nevada had caucuses for the first time ever in every Nevada county! The Democrats now control the Assembly and Senate in Nevada. Of course everyone knows about the historic election of President Barrack Obama, and the House and Senate gains by Democrats nationally.

For all the success of the Democratic Party on the National and State level, Douglas County still has work left to do. We need to register more Democrats in Douglas County, because we currently trail Republicans by roughly a 2 to 1 margin. We need more people involved in running for public office from our party.

We also need to inform Douglas County residents about issues that are important to all of us that live here. It’s up to us to make Douglas County a better place to live. We can’t wait, nor should we depend on, Washington to solve all our problems. In the upcoming elections we will be voting on a Senate, House, Governor, two County Commissioners, and numerous other positions. As Democrats, we cannot rest on our efforts from this last election!

Already we have changed our meeting time to the fourth Thursday of the month at 6:30PM in an effort to accommodate more people. We have changed the bylaws to accommodate more voting members. DCDCC members are spearheading volunteer efforts in the community. We need more Democrats to become involved with our efforts. Please consider becoming more involved in committees and events if you are currently a member. If you have never attended a meeting, and would like to know more about your local Democratic Party, please feel welcome to join us at our next meeting.

Thank you,

DCDCC E-Board
