The Douglas County Democratic Central Committee is having their annual "Turn Nevada Blue" dinner at the Carson Valley Inn in Minden. A no-host bar starts at 5:00 p.m. and the dinner will start at 6:00 p.m. in the Shannon Ballroom. Our keynote speaker is Cory Farley, noted columnist, recently retired from the Reno Gazette-Journal. All the presidential candidates have been invited and those attending will speak.

The Nevada State Convention will be held in Reno at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno. Nevadans will choose our delegates to the Democratic National Convention at our state convention. Parties start around 5:30, with Obama speaking around 6.
Please go to a party in your neighborhood and take your friends! Afterwards, talk with the host/precinct captain about how to turn all that enthusiasm into action.
Precinct captains should a) try to go to a watch party if they can and b) plan a voter contact event (voter reg, canvassing, phone banking) for their local volunteers this weekend. Here is where they are happening:

Douglas County School Superintendent Carol Lark and Cheryl Blomstrom will speak on the topic of the district’s continuation bond initiative, which will be on the November 4 ballot. Blomstrom is chair of the Keep Improving Douglas Schools (KIDS), a citizens’ committee that is promoting passage of the bond. The DCDCC supports the initiative and recently donated $250 to KIDS.
Saturday, September 13 — Ba “Rock” the Vote for Obama! Douglas County Friends and Neighbors for Obama will hold this event at 7 p.m. at Genoa Lakes Golf Club, 1 Genoa Lakes Drive, Genoa.
There will be complimentary hors d’oeuvres, no-host bar, and live music (bring your dancin’ shoes!). Donations accepted.

Sunday, September 14 Joe Dini’s Old-Fashioned Democratic Picnic, Fort Churchill State Park
Sen. Richard Bryan will be guest of honor at a meet-and-greet-the-candidates barbecue at Fort Churchill State Park pavilion, noon (auction at 2 p.m.), hosted by the Lyon County Democratic Central Committee. Parking is $4 per car and the picnic is $10 per person, children 12 and under free.
